Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

_{Happy 12th birthday DA! It's hard to believe you've been around this long!

Just testing out some of the recently updated skins. It's been a while since I tried them out. Couldn't resist updating with this one. It's just too cute. XD

In the meanwhile, I've been working on more watercolors. It's a relatively fun medium to experiment with -- can be somewhat unpredictable. I have a ton of paper I've stock-piled over the years, but never got around to using... so now's the perfect time to start cranking some drawings out.

I tried playing with watercolours once. I was all like, "Yeah, I'm going to make an awesome sunset and everyone will love my superior watercolour skills!"
Five minutes later and it looked like someone threw up on my paper. ;-;
To this day, I envy those who can successfully use watercolours.

I think watercolors are all about trial and error -- and unfortunately it's one of those mediums where the materials really matter. Having good brushes mean you can get finer, cleaner lines. Good paints mean stronger and truer colors. Even paper types make a huge difference in overall texture and paint/water absorbency - especially when trying for nice gradients.

I've never taken a class in watercolors, so a lot of what I do is just fiddling around with the tools I have and trying different techniques I read about in books. ^^ Sometimes it's successful -- other times, not so much. XD
