Happy 12th birthday DA! It's hard to believe you've been around this long!
Just testing out some of the recently updated skins. It's been a while since I tried them out. Couldn't resist updating with this one. It's just too cute. XD
In the meanwhile, I've been working on more watercolors. It's a relatively fun medium to experiment with -- can be somewhat unpredictable. I have a ton of paper I've stock-piled over the years, but never got around to using... so now's the perfect time to start cranking some drawings out.
I tried playing with watercolours once. I was all like, "Yeah, I'm going to make an awesome sunset and everyone will love my superior watercolour skills!" Five minutes later and it looked like someone threw up on my paper. ;-; To this day, I envy those who can successfully use watercolours.
I think watercolors are all about trial and error -- and unfortunately it's one of those mediums where the materials really matter. Having good brushes mean you can get finer, cleaner lines. Good paints mean stronger and truer colors. Even paper types make a huge difference in overall texture and paint/water absorbency - especially when trying for nice gradients.
I've never taken a class in watercolors, so a lot of what I do is just fiddling around with the tools I have and trying different techniques I read about in books. ^^ Sometimes it's successful -- other times, not so much. XD
